About West Falls Church

West Falls Church is a census-designated place (CDP) located in Fairfax Country, Virginia. The community is roughly bounded by the I495 on the west, Holmes Run Stream on the southwest and south, Sleepy Hollow Rd. (R613) on the east and Lee Hwy. (SR29) on the north. The CDP covers 5.03 square miles and actually lies south/southwest of Falls Church. Despite this, “West Falls Church” commonly refers to the area around West Falls Church Metro station, located in the Idylwood CDP.

Arlington Blvd, is the main thoroughfare in West Falls Church, running east/west through the top third of the neighborhood.

The neighborhood got its name in 2010, having previously been named Jefferson. Most of West Falls Church consists of subdivisions developed during the 1940’s through the early 1950’s. These include Jefferson Village, Westlawn, Hillwood, Sleepy Hollow, Woodley, Raymondale and Broyhill Park.

Bordering neighborhoods include Falls Church, Merrifield, Holmes Run Acres, Broyhill Crest, Walters Woods, Ravenwood, and Westwood Park.
