About Cameron Station

Cameron Station is a 164-acre planned, mixed-use community sited next to the Landmark neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia. The neighborhood is roughly bounded by Duke Street on the north, Brenman Soccer Field on the northeast, Ben Brenman Park on the east, Backlick Run on the south and runs southwesterly from Martin Lane and Barrett Place between S Pickett and Knapp Place to the southwest corner at Cameron Run.

The subdivision was once the site of a U.S. Army quartermaster depot of the same name, which closed in 1995. The city had plans to develop a residential community there, but a private group applied to use the land to build a homeless shelter and job center. Congressman Jim Moran led a coalition to block the project, which was subsequently denied by the Department of Health and Hunan Services.

Cameron Station construction began in 1999 and completed in five phases, with approximately 2,000 condominium units and townhomes in total. The City of Alexandria received more than 60 acres from the site for use as park land. A small retail corridor contains shops, a daycare facility and office spaces.
